The Delta riverine communities project was initiated by Income Electrix Limited and financed by the Delta State Government but later taken over by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2011. This project was the first successfully executed electricity project in the entire Niger Delta to connect all riverine communities in five local government areas namely: Bomadi, Burutu, Warri North, Warri South, Ughelli South and Local Government Areas.

The 33kV overhead power transmission line and 415 V distribution lines project covers a total distance of 100km spanning the five local government areas.

The following communities were direct beneficiaries: Okrika, Frukama, Ezebri, Obodobiri, Okoloba, Okuoama, Akugbene, ogbeinama, Esama, Ayakuromo, Gbekebor, Obotebe etc.
